'Cane Watchers

As I have been following and monitoring an area currently emerging off Africa the past few days I have been looking at specific signs of a Tropical Wave. All available data at this time is confirming that the disturbance is the first unofficial tropical wave of the season. It is showing signs of an inverted V pattern and signs of western prop. I am not expecting and development out of this area as current SST's would not support any tropical development and it is quite far down south. However it is interesting to see our first evidence that the hurricane season is right around the corner and perhaps we may see an active Cape-verde season if this is any sign.

I expect that the train of tropical waves will begin shortly and we will begin to see plenty of tropical waves rolling off the West Africa coast.
